DIY: Exfoliating Sugar Scrub

I never thought my skin could feel so soft. Like, woah. I think I have found the perfect scrub for my skin, and just in time for those summer months that are catching up to us oh so quickly. This exfoliant recipe has made my skin super soft, and I see a slight reduction of blackheads. (With my stubborn skin, any reduction is a blessing. Yaay!)

I would recommend trying this if you have acne-prone or blackhead-prone skin that is overdue for a good exfoliant. I have normal skin, so I wouldn't know which skin type to recommend this to, but I would defintely mix or even puree the mixture if you have sensitive skin. This is a very intense exfoliant, but you could totally make it work for you.

The magic recipe for this scrub is (with no specific amounts):
Honey
Brown Sugar
Sugar
Baking Soda
Water

I eyeballed the ingredients until I achieved a consistency that I felt would work for me. That consistency seemed to be quite viscous, and similar to caramel. After constructing the concoction, I scrubbed it onto my face until everything but my eyelids were coated. Once that was on, I left it on for approximately 35 minutes, and let it do its thing.

Immediately after removing the mask, my skin felt significantly softer. I ran to my mom and sister and made them stroke my baby soft skin. They weren't as excited as I was. I did notice a reduction in black heads, but not acne scars, unfortunately. One achievement at a time.
The morning after applying the scrub my makeup was much easier and smoother to apply. Not to mention how much better it looked without those pesky winter dry patches that seemed to cover the majority of my forehead and glabella.
A hint for this scrub is to put it on before a shower, and rinse it out during because it is quite sticky. It got into my hair slightly and that isn't exactly a joy to remove on straightened hair.

I think this mask has just became a new favourite of mine. Let me know if you try it out for yourself! xo
